THE senior and under-15 division two Jimboomba cricket teams will rely on their natural strengths to bowl over Springwood and Logan Village this weekend and claim grand final glory.
The Jimboomba Cricket Club has enjoyed stellar form this season with the division two side undefeated since Christmas and the seniors lost only one game all season – to their grand final nemesis Logan Village.
Division two coach and senior Jimboomba Bushranger, Phil Hayes, said their bowling attack was second to none.
“I think bowling has been our strength this year, we have got a good mix of pace and spin in the team,” he said.
“There are not many teams we haven’t bowled out for under 100 (runs), we have been bowling teams out after 25 to 30 overs and we normally bat our full 50 overs.”
The Division two side is playing their third grand final match in a row while the seniors are facing their second consecutive grand final.
Despite the club’s dominant position, Hayes is under no illusions of the challenge ahead, predicting two closely fought clashes.
“Both games will be hard fought,” he said.
“We are really focusing on all aspects with fielding drills, making sure we create as many opportunities for runs and bowl in the key areas to take wickets and build pressure.
“The key is to stick to our game plan. Logan Village beat us a month ago so we are hoping to turn the table.”
The division two final will be a home game for the Jimboomba team on Saturday and Sunday morning while the senior clash will be played at Logan Village on Saturday afternoon.
