SIXTEEN young athletes are on track for a bright future after receiving a $500 local sporting champions grant to pursue their sporting dreams.
Wright MP Scott Buchholz presented the awards in a special ceremony and praised the inspiring sporting stars for their success on the track, field and court.
“These young athletes are chasing their dreams and are a shining example of the calibre of sporting talent in our region,” said Mr Buchholz.
“They are an inspiration for other local aspiring sporting champions and join a very long list of successful sportsmen and women from our area.”
“These grants will help to cover the cost of travel, accommodation, uniforms and sporting equipment when competing at state, national and international championships.”
The grant recipients were: Ryder Ah Fook of Bonogin; Katy Blackmore, of Greenbank; Jack Debortoli, of Withcott; Chantelle Greif, of Lockrose; Ari Klein, of Worongary; Connor Lewis, Tamborine; Ashleigh Millard, of Jimboomba; Xena Morrow, of Greenbank; Joshua Pang, of Forestdale; Elly Rowell, of Tamborine Mountain; Josie Rowell, of Tamborine Mountain; Felicity Shearer, of Tamborine; Jake Sullivan, of Laidley; Kyer Teika, of Maudsland; Hunter Trego, of New Beith and Phoenix Trego, of New Beith.
“It is my pleasure to congratulate our local sporting champions and wish them all the very best of luck with their future sporting endeavours,” said Mr Buchholz.
