THE Emmaus College school leaders have stepped up to their roles with a sense of purpose and confidence.
Emmaus College school principal Kevin Schwede said this attitude is what propelled senior school captains Madelyn Burgess and Callum Eggerling as well as junior captains Chloe Liese and Lucas Strong into their positions.
“We have a wonderful school leadership team, they were all selected after a long process and were voted in by their peers and staff,” he said.
“They are excellent role models for the school and we believe they will serve the school very well.”
Senior captain Madelyn Burgess said this year would be all about balancing her academic goals with setting a positive example for others to follow.
“I would like to get a good OP and get into the uni courses I want and maintain positive relations with people around me,” she said.
Ms Burgess aspires to study advanced physics at the University of Queensland next year, after discovering her love for science since grade 8.
Fellow senior captain Callum Eggerling has played a positive role at Emmaus College since grade 1.
He said he was up to the job of setting a positive example.
“I was the college captain in Year 6 and tried to be the best person I could with following the school rules and ethos of the college,” he said.
“I would like to be positive role model and help the community be closer.”
Junior school captains Chloe Liese and Lucas Strong are also looking forward being responsible school citizens.
“I wanted to be a school captain so I could set an example for the younger kids growing up to be a school captain that want to accomplish as much as they can inside the classroom as well as in school,” Lucas said.
“I was honoured to be school captain because I would love to help the younger kids on their Emmaus journey,” Chloe said.
