RESIDENTS have until March 16 to have their say on a contentious wastewater treatment plant planned to be built at Cedar Grove.
Council has submitted a material change of use application to approving authority Economic Development Queensland.
Cr Trevina Schwarz is holding an information day and tour of the site on Saturday, March 3.
She said this would give people a full insight on the project.
“I am hopeful this will give residents a feel, sense and insight for what you can expect to see (and not see) and enable you to get a clear and real picture of the proposed project, as opposed to perceptions, whether in the positive or negative,” Cr Schwarz said.
Cr Schwarz said council was required by the state government to provide wastewater treatment for the greater Flagstone priority development area.
“The approvals for the greater Flagstone PDA and subsequently this treatment plant will be made by the state government’s EDQ,” she said.
Cedar Grove Action Group spokeswoman Debbie Brezac encouraged people to read information about what was proposed for the site and make submissions.
She said the group had provided information about the process but people should compile their own letters with concerns.
“There is no real value in us all submitting the same letter,” she said.
“It is not about quantity, it is about quality.”
Ms Brezac said the information day would provide residents with an understanding of what the plant site would look like.
The information day on March 3 will be from 8.30am to 3.30pm, leaving from Cedar Grove and District Riding Club on Irwin Road, Cedar Grove.
Officers will be at the club to answer questions.
Pre-bookings for the time slots to go on a tour are preferred.
Bookings can be made via Tania Keelan on 3412 9609 or community@loganwia.com.au.
Cr Schwarz said a community reference group would be set up and a tour arranged to a similar treatment plant in south-east Queensland.
Immediate neighbours and residents with professional skills would be given first priority.
The application, under reference number DEV2017/826, can be viewed on EDQ’s website at dilgp.qld.gov.au/planning/development-assessment/priority-development-area-development-applications.html.
A hard copy is available for viewing at council’s customer service centres at Jimboomba, Logan Central and Beenleigh.
Submissions can be posted to the EDQ development assessment team, Department of Infrastructure, Local Government and Planning, GPO Box 2202, Brisbane 4001 or uploaded via dilgp.qld.gov.au/edq/economic-development.html.
