THE Hills GC continued their 2018 pennant campaign playing out Round 2 of the SEQDGA competition at the weekend.
In Div 1 the Jimboomba lads played Riverlakes at home coming out victors 4 ½ - 1 ½. The score line, although comfortable, showed there is still room for improvement. Once in top gear this side will be again hard to beat. Fourball matches were won by Patrick Bruminhent and Eugene Kitiprasert 3 and 2 with Ultra Namkang and Mitch Revie getting up convincingly 6 and 5. In singles matches, Zubair Firdaus won 6 and 5, Manav Bais got up 5 and 3, Jett Bodhidatta halving his match and Bright Thongsom losing one down in what was a tough battle. This week sees the Hills top side play their first away game at Redland Bay.
Div 2 were away to Beaudesert GC, going down 4-2. The first Fourball pairing of Ricky Forshey and Lance Eade went down 7 and 6, with the second Fourball pairing of Simon Hewitt and Rob Rochford fighting hard for a 3 and 2 win. In singles Martin Friswell lost 6 and 5, Gavin Skeet won 1up in a tough too and fro match, Jamie Eade lost 7 and 6 with Matt Forshey losing 3 and 1. This week the Div 2 side returns home to play Mt Warren in what is a must win match to steady their campaign.
Div 3 played away at Carbrook in what was a tough match, sharing the spoils 3-3. In fourball matches the pairing of Brandon Biddlecombe and Craig O’Donnell went down to the wire on the 18th for a hard fought 1up win, notching up their first win for the season. In the second fourball rubber, Kevin Gardiner and Adam McIlwain - another game down to the wire but unfortunately going down 2-1 on the 18th hole. In singles action, Grant Bentley lost on the second last hole going down 2-1.
