AUSTRALIAN swimming champion and Commonwealth Games medalist Lorna Tonks will make a splash at a fun water safety event at Greenbank on Saturday.
Summer Splash is hosted by developers Mirvac and their community engagement team Enriching Communities.
Community engagement manager Suzanne Guastini said the event aimed to raise swim safety awareness for families.
There will be a free giant water slide, water activities, giveaways and prizes to be won.
There will also be a water hose activity for children, thanks to the Greenbank Rural Fire Brigade, and a sausage sizzle hosted by Greenbank State School.
“This is a great opportunity for the local community to hear from experts actively involved in swim training and water safety not just here in Greenbank and Logan but across the state,” Ms Guastini said.
A Queensland Surf Life Saving representative will also give a CPR demonstration and Logan City Council staff members will speak on pool compliance and how to ensure your pool area is child-friendly.
Mirvac Queensland residential general manager Warwick Bible said the event was a chance to engage with the community in a fun atmosphere.
“We are encouraging all local families to come down and take part in what is sure to be a great event,” he said.
Summer Splash will be held at Greenbank Shopping Centre, 15 Pub Lane, Greenbank on Saturday, February 17 from 10am to 2pm.
