A 21-year-old Greenbank man on a learner’s permit was allegedly caught drink driving and speeding in a car with three sober passengers.
Jimboomba police officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Peter Waugh said the motorist drove past a police radar on Stoney Camp Road, travelling 121km/h in a 70km/h zone at 5.30pm, February 13.
Senior Sergeant Waugh said he recorded a blood alcohol reading of 0.135 and had no excuse to be behind the wheel.
“Three other people were in the car at time of interception who hadn’t been drinking,” he said.
The motorist will face charges for drink-driving and driving unaccompanied on a learners permit at Beaudesert Magistrates Court on February 27.
GREENBANK CRASH
A 70-year-old Marooka man riding a motorcycle was taken to the Princess Alexandria Hospital in critical condition after colliding with a Suzuki four-wheel-drive.
The pair collided at the Greenbank Shopping Centre on Teviot Road on February 10 at 3pm.
The 78-year-old four-wheel-drive motorist from New Beith was treated by paramedics at the scene.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
