FOR the first time, an Anzac Day ceremony will be held at the Tamborine Memorial Hall following the official unveiling the new cenotaph this month.
And the public are invited to attend a dedication service to celebrate the milestone which will see the Honourable Governor of Queensland, Paul de Jersey address the ceremony and unveil the cenotaph.
Other high profile guests will include Colonel John Simeoni, Beaudesert, Mt Tamborine, Canungra and Logan Village RSL presidents and local and state government members.
The Jimboomba cadets, Mudgeeraba Light Horse Brigade, piper David Hinds and bugler Fred Finton will also be a part of the service.
The Tamborine Village Lions Club are hosting the event on February 24 from 11am.
Lions Club member Colin Monro said the achievement was a big step forward.
“Being in such a small community we don’t get the same involvement other bigger areas do so hopefully this will bring all the local people together,” he said.
“We will get a sub committee organised for the first Anzac ceremony here, and some of the people from cadet groups will come to that as well.
“The response we received from the community has been positive, it is one of the biggest things that has ever happened here.”
The cenotaph has been a long-term project for the Lions Club, memorial Hall committee and Scenic Rim Council.
Tamborine Village Lions Club member Shirline Pott said it took more than ten years for the cenotaph to become a reality.
