SCHOOL leadership teams have been finalised across a wide range of Logan and Jimboomba Schools, with students shedding light on what it means to be a school captain.
Logan Village State School captains David Cassidy and Tea Sunn along with vice captains Jessie-Lee Kelly and Matthew Saron went through a lengthy process to achieve their roles.
“They had to do an application and an interview and they had to be voted in by kids at the school,” Logan Village Deputy Principal Hayley Hampton said.
“We were certain to get the right fit and they were outstanding. I’m extremely proud of them, they will make wonderful role models.”
School captain David Cassidy said he wanted to lead by example.
“I would like to help the school be a better place and help everyone with their problems,” he said.
“I would like to be anybody’s friend and no matter if they had a bad year last year everyone has a clean slate and everyone has another chance.”
The Greenbank State School leadership team includes captains Jessica Hewitt and Alex Hamilton and vice captains Zahra Brimble and JJ Hamilton.
Alex Hamilton said his priority was to do the best job he could.
“I want to be a role model for kids in the school and achieve my highest (potential),” he said,
Jessica Hewitt said she hoped to teach younger students how to create “a better way” for Greenbank State School.
Greenbank State School Deputy Principal Jacqui Parker said looked forward to seeing the students provide outstanding leadership.
“We are very fortunate to have great role models in our school captains and I’m looking forward to see how they encourage others to fulfill their potential,” she said.
Flagstone State School captains included Keagan Redding and Cooper Manning and vice captains Holly Farrow and Charlee Hennessy.
All four students will attend a leadership conference at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre this year to network with other leaders.
Flagstone State School captain Keagan Redding said the role would put him in a strong position going into high school.
“(Because) you have already done it, you know how to act in front of teachers and students and you have respect and morals,” he said,
Cooper Manning said the entire leadership team would have their door open to anyone in the school community dealing with bullying.
“If they came to me I would be like okay lets deal with it in a positive way not a negative,” he said.
“If someone says yes they are bullying someone I would tell them to treat others they way you would like to be treated.”
Park Ridge State School leaders include Addison Jordan (vice captain) Mia Coverdale (captain), Maddox Andrews (captain) Neil Bantwal (vice captain).
Madelyn Burgess and Callum Eggerling are the year 12 captains of the Jimboomba Emmaus College.
