A JIMBOOMBA mother fed up with people dumping rubbish at the Jimboomba Skate Park would like to see the culprits slapped with community service.
Emma Blundell made a rubbish complaint to Logan City Council last weekend after being met with an eyesore when taking her son to the area to enjoy outdoor fun.
Ms Blundell said ongoing littering in the area had stirred debate from some in the community about getting rid of the recreational facility.
“They have a skate park for free and it makes it unfair on younger kids that want to have fun and treat it with respect,” she said.
“It is time some of these teenagers were accountable for their actions and none of them are.
“They should do community service, if they had to clean it up they would not make the mess they did.”
Logan City Council Parks Committee Chair councillor Jennie Breene said anyone dumping in the area in the future could expect to get caught.
“The safety camera at the skate park has been recently upgraded and is now live streaming back to the Logan Safety Camera Program Monitoring Room 24 hours a day,” she said.
“Residents are advised to call Council on 3412 3412 to report such incidents.”
Anyone caught littering can expect to be fined up to $630.
There are three bins in close proximity to the skate park which are emptied by council staff three days a week.
Council will monitopr the park to determine if extra bins or an additional pick up service will be required in the future.
