THE Yarrabilba Family, Children and Community hub has been announced on the same day as 370 students began their first day at the new Yarrabilba State School.
The Hub, adjacent to the school, would deliver children’s health services, maternity services and consulting rooms for visiting specialists.
Logan MP Linus Power said the $3.6 million Queensland Government investment would come to fruition later this year.
“As the Member for Logan, I campaigned for a primary school and the premier committed to a new secondary school for Yarrabilba. Local kids will be able to complete their education locally, in Yarrabilba,” he said.
“The hub ensures local residents have access to the full range of services for families and children.
“The hub is due to be opened in August.”
Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk said a cross-government steering committee would oversee planning with the community to identify services to meet their needs.
The new state school, complete with spacious ovals and recreational areas and an array of modern-style classrooms is understood to have one of the highest enrollment figures for a first year state school.
The announcement coincided with Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk and Education Minister Grace Grace visiting the Yarrabilba State School for the first day back.
Parents dropping their kids off at school are encouraged to follow school zone driving rules.
Jimboomba Police officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Peter Waugh said marked and unmarked police would patrol school zones.
