Matthew Floros has been named the international indoor cricketer of the year and backed the sport to become professional during his career.
The former Tuggeranong all-rounder won his second world cup last year and takes the game's highest individual honour from his younger brother Tim.
An ACT player has won the award four times in the past seven years with Vinesh Bennett claiming it in 2012 and 2013, before Floros brothers also went back to back.
Floros has two world cups to his name after making his international debut five years ago and was vice-captain when Australia won its 10th consecutive crown in Dubai last year.
"This is the first time I've won this award it and it feels really good, I knocked Timmy off the mantle so it's nice to have the bragging rights but I'm just very excited and honoured," Floros said.
Floros, 24, hopes to play the sport for another two decades and believes it will become professional in the near future.
"It definitely can, there's a lot of movement from Cricket Australia in terms of funding and backing the sport and I know they are doing a lot of marketing which increases the exposure," Floros said.
"We might have to wait for a Kerry Packer to jump on and help funding but with Cricket Australia's backing I think it become professional or semi-professional in the not too distant future.
"The intention is to play for as long as my body allows me to, Vanesh Bennett is in his early 40s and just retired, he looked after his body pretty well and hopefully I can follow his lead."
The Australian team is a Floros family affair with Matthew playing alongside his brothers Tim and Benji, while their uncle Billy is the assistant coach and their cousin Alex plays for Australia under-21.
"It's good fun playing with the boys, I stopped playing for Tuggeranong three years ago to focus on indoor and it's been a good decision," Floros said.
"We're heading to Sri Lanka later this year to play against Sri Lanka, India, Pakistan and the UAE which should be good fun."
