LOGAN Village will be home to a dynamic new theater performance group if a grand vision for the area is realised.
Sandra Koehler said the idea came to her following a chat with a friend of hers in a creative writing group.
“I have always been interested in the arts and literature and I know there is (a theatre group) in Beaudesert and Beenleigh so I thought I would give it a try,” she said.
The concept will be tentatively named “The Village Green Theatre Group” and anyone looking to express interest in joining are invited to attend the Old School House on Wharf Street in Logan Village at 7pm on February 1.
People with a variety of skills and abilities are encouraged to add their input.
“We are looking for people with skills required for theatre production, we need people with solid backgrounds in lighting and advertising or sewing costumes,” Ms Koehler said.
“It is an opportunity to do some acting at any level which is confidence building, it is an opportunity to expand and share your skills.
“It is an exercise in community and team building and working together to produce a play where a lot of satisfaction can be gained.”
No experience is necessary to join the group and the opportunity is open to anyone aged 16 or over.
Ms Koehler hoped the first meeting would attract 10-20 people and set a solid foundation to build a cohesive and passionate team.
“I see this having a long term future as more people come in...the vision is to get it off the ground,” she said.
“I am very interested in starting new things, that has been my history in the past and I’m interested to see who will come together.”
