GREENBANK Pony Club members are hitting the ground jumping in 2018.
The club will be running two show jumping clinics on January 20 and January 28 to further develop member’s skills.
Chief inspector of the Pony Club Wendy Smith said the pony-riders would receive solid guidance from Anthony Murray who runs Murray Equine Training Services in Maclean.
“He has competed at world cup level and he is a show jump judge and travels all around Queensland and NSW,” she said.
“He is a very experienced show jumper and has been absolutely fantastic with the kids.”
The show jumping clinics have proven instrumental in preparing pony riders to compete at state and national level.
“We’ve got riders from all levels, there is a little one who is nine years old and she is trying to get to state level,” Ms Smith said.
“We have another rider jumping over a metre who competed at national level last year, it is basically just a warm up and coaching for them to get qualified for the state competition in April.
“For those riders who aren’t trying to get into states, we encourage them to try it to because its a good way to learn to jump safely as well.”
January 20 will also be sign on day for for new and existing members.
The club is expecting to have a new amenities block built in August this year.
