World of Fun
The Scenic Rim Regional Council’s World of Fun school holiday program kicks off on Tuesday, January 9 and includes workshops, children's movies and craft activities to ignite enthusiasm for the Shared Fire community celebrations to be staged in conjunction with the 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games.

Minecraft gaming sessions
Cost: Free
One hour sessions of the popular computer game for children aged eight and older.
Where:
- Beaudesert Library, January 12 at 10am for digital gaming and January 17 at 10am for board games
- Boonah Library, January 4 and 11, afternoons
- Tamborine Mountain Library (for ages 6+), January 8 at 10am
Bush Buddies
Cost: Free
A chance to meet some of Australia’s native wildlife up close. Spaces are limited so booking is essential.

- Boonah Library, January 17 at 10am
- Tamborine Mountain, January 19 at 10am
- Canungra Library, January 19 at 1.30pm
- Kooralbyn mobile library, January 17 at 1.30pm
Tibetan monks
Tibetan monks will be leading mantra meditation and creating a sand mandala. The monks will painstakingly place millions of coloured sand grains to form the geometric design of the traditional mandala.
The monks will be at The Centre Beaudesert every day from January 9 to 12.
Mantra meditation is for children, parents and caregivers and will be held for three mornings from Tuesday January 9 at 9.30am.
The monks will guide participants through energy-based sounds and positive vibrations produced by repeating a mantra.
Scenic Rim Super Circus School
Cost: $45
A chance for children aged six and older to learn circus performance and take part in the Fire and Water event to take place in Kooralbyn in April. Workshops will be held at the Centre Beaudesert but children need to commit to attending all workshops until the final performance.
Where: The Centre Beaudesert
When: January 17, February 10, March 10 and April 13— plus the final performance on April 14. Rehearsals run from 10am to 3pm.
Fire and water activity days
These are in preparation for the Fires on top of Mountains project finale event ‘Fire and Water’ to be held in Kooralbyn in April.
Activities held at The Centre Beaudesert on January 12 and 16 from 9.30am and the Boonah Cultural Centre on January 10 and 18 from 9.30am.
Activities include:
- Create your own mandala
- Floating lotus flower lights
- Ribbon wands
- Lantern lights
Indigenous totem printing
Children can learn from a local indigenous elder and artist about the significance of totems.
Children will also learn printing techniques to create their own totems on fabric to be turned into a decorative banner for the Fire and Water event.

Free swimming
Council is planning free family fun days throughout January and early February to keep the kids cool and entertained with neon pool tubes, games, music, and giveaways.
