LOGAN shoppers have done their community proud and helped the Woolworths OzHarvest Christmas Appeal reach its target to provide more than one million meals to vulnerable Australians.
The idea behind the Christmas appeal is for shoppers to buy 50 cent-meal tokens over the festive season to support people who are struggling to feed themselves.
More than 12,645 tokens have already been purchased in south-west Logan which has gone some way towards already surpassing the $1 million target.
This has already exceeded last year’s total, which raised $750,000.
OzHarvest Queensland state manager Amy Cobb said it was delightful to see the local community rallying together.
“At a time when sharing the Christmas spirit is so important, it’s heartwarming to see the local south-west Logan community come together and support Australians who often don’t know where their next meal is coming from,” she said.
Shoppers can help raise more funds for the cause from buying five pack Santa Cookies for $2.50, with 50 cents from every purchase supporting the appeal.
Local Woolworths Group manager Ryan Lancaster said there was still time for people to contribute to the appeal which would run until Christmas Eve, December 24.
