Adopt-a-cop police from Browns Plains police station joined in the festive spirit at Park Ridge State School taking part in the school’s Christmas carols celebrations before school closed for the year.
Senior Constable McEwan and Constable Lachlan Jones, also dressed up themselves, posing with the children in the pop-up photo-booth.
The adopt-a-cop program was implemented to build positive relationships between police and members of the school community. The program is an integral part of policing and reflects a greater emphasis on police partnerships with the community.
Currently there are more than 950 Adopt-a-cops performing duties in more than 1100 Queensland schools.
Adopt-a-cops are police officers and Police Liaison Officers (to be referred to as ‘Adopt-a-PLOs’) who volunteer to participate in the program.
