Members of the community are invited to donate to the City of Logan Mayor's Christmas toy drive.
City of Logan Mayor Luke Smith said local charities will distribute the toys and gifts collected through the drive to children across the city.
“We have many wonderful charities that do an enormous amount of work in the City of Logan but Christmas can be a very busy time for them,” Mayor Smith said.
“Supporting our local charities through the Christmas Toy Drive is one of the highlights in my yearly calendar.
“It’s been inspiring to witness the generosity that our city has shown not only during previous Christmas appeals but also during the floods earlier this year, when people came together and supported one another in their time of need. All of the items donated to the toy drive will go to children who might not otherwise get a present on Christmas Day.”
Ikea Logan and Snap Fresh have already donated toys to the drive, which is being run in conjunction with the Mount Lindesay Ulysses Club’s annual Toy Run ride, held on December 3.
“All of the items donated to the toy drive will go to children who might not otherwise get a present on Christmas Day. I would also like to thank the volunteers who selflessly donate their time and resources to help improve the lives of others, and I invite people to think about how they might also support local families in need this Christmas,” Mr Smith said.
Donations of toys, marked with gender and age suitability, can be left under the Christmas tree at the City administration centre, 150 Wembley Road, Logan Central from 8am to 5pm week days until December 18.
