Volunteers in Policing (VIPs) from Browns Plains and Crestmead Police Stations held a Safe Pl8 event at the Bunnings on Browns Plains Road on November 16,
Six VIPs fitted almost 50 cars with free one way screws, as well as provideing information on personal and car safety.
Entitled Safe Pl8, the campaign is a crime prevention measure which aims at decreasing the rate of stolen registration plates from cars. Stolen registration plates are often used by criminals to commit further offences such as placing them on stolen cars, petrol drive off offences and toll road evasion.
In order to make cars more secure, police and VIPS can apply one-way screws in order to make it difficult for registration plates to be removed by thieves.
Anyone wanting safe number plates fitted can phone the Logan district Crime Prevention unit on 3826 1800 to arrange an appropriate time for your plates to be correctly fitted with one way screws.
