Carols in the Parklands – Saturday, December 9, 2017
A chorus of voices will ring out across Yarrabilba this weekend as the community comes together in celebration of Christmas.
The second annual Carols in the Parklands is on and it is expected to be more popular than its first year.
More than 5500 people turned out in 2016 and due to the popularity, it will now relocate to Shaw Street Oval with event organisers wanting to ensure families have plenty of space to relax.
This year’s show is expected to thrill crowds with the official lighting of a Christmas tree, a visit from the big man in red himself and a music line-up of talented locals.

“We have Footlights Theatrical Inc, who are Brisbane-based singers performing,” committee member Jo Connolly said.
“They are phenomenal and not something you want to miss.
"We also have a really talented group of local performers, both singers and dancers, of which we are really happy to bring to our carols stage this year.”
In between the musical magic, carol goers will have the chance to browse a number of stalls and sample flavours from around the world.
Around 30 food trucks will be offering everything from Greek, Irish, Turkish and American style foods, right through to sweets such as pancakes and doughnuts.
To ensure the safety of all, a number of car parks will be available in the area.
From 3.30pm, Carol goers will be directed by volunteers to designated parking areas and will be able to catch a free bus from the parking area to the oval.
The buses will run throughout the night for attendee convenience.
Don’t forget to bring along $10 to have your photo taken with Santa and get into the spirit of the evening. Kids are encouraged to pull out their favourite Christmas outfit.
Families are also encouraged to bring along chairs and rugs for a comfortable night. There will be a designated picnic blanket area.
