WITHOUT the roads, how are you going to get to school?

SCHOOLS in Logan Reserve, Park Ridge, North Maclean, South Maclean and Greenbank areas are desperately needed to provide for the population and houses there now.

The Mount Lindesay
I AM a resident of Stockleigh Road. Every morning I turn right from Stockleigh Road onto the Mount Lindsay Highway heading towards Brisbane to go to work. This morning my breath was taken away by a young girl (teenager) who ran across the Mount Lindsay Highway to the bus stop among two main lanes of traffic, two turning lanes and two more roads (one of which is Stockleigh) turning across this.
Thankfully because the guy in the ute in front of us waited for her, she made it safely. Since the lights have been put in at Camp Cable the residents of Stockleigh Road and beyond take their lives in their hands every day … just wondering when there will be lights put in because it shouldn't take another life before something is done to make this safe.

Council says “enough”
THE article “Council says ‘enough’” (JT, Nov 8) talks about issues surrounding the Mount Lindesay Highway and rail infrastructure. Note I use the words “talks about”. That is because local and state governments of all persuasions have only ever talked about these issues. Yes, there have been improvements to the highway over a long period but a lot more needs to be done. Having said that, I believe the problem of commuting between Beaudesert and the city can be resolved in a better way.
The dual gauge railway exists between Bromelton, Acacia Ridge, Roma Street and ultimately the Port of Brisbane and has been there for many years. Let's use it!
Here's how:
- Build passenger facilities including appropriate park and ride provisions, at Bromelton, Kagaru, Flagstone, Greenbank and Forestdale. Bromelton also needs a full blown terminus to marshal trains.
- Build passing loops at Kagaru, Flagstone and Forestdale. They already exist at Bromelton and Greenbank.
- Passenger trains can be diesel drawn in the interim before the rail line is eventually electrified.
I believe this infrastructure can be built for millions not billions and provide a fast rail service from Beaudesert to the city rail network.
