Jimboomba Bushrangers Seniors started the season with a win at home versus the Springwood Suns Blues on Saturday.
Losing the toss Jimboomba were sent into bat and unfortunately lost new opener David Parry early.
Captain Rodney Teese made a good start but was caught on 39 to have Jimboomba two for 66 in the 13th over. Ben Holley (20) and Kelton McGuire (34) pushed the total along to four for 101 at the drinks break.
Joe Plater (30) and Shannon White (34) steadied the second half of the Jimboomba innings.
James Galea (8) and Ryan Galea (3 not out) got the total to 201 before Jimboomba were dismissed in 39 overs.
Jimboomba took to the field and had Springwood on the back foot early to dismiss James Kelly for none in Ben Holley’s first over.
Adam Gillman (25) upped the run rate for Springwood before he held out to Joe Plater to have Springwood at two for 34. Springwood Captain Dennis Comer (56) came to the crease and steadied the Springwood innings with opener W Tobia (23) to have Springwood three for 94 at drinks.
Jimboomba needed to take wickets to swing the match in their favour. James Gales three for 15 and Kelton McGuire four for 19 were able to bowl a tight length and got the wickets Jimboomba needed to dismiss Springwood for 149 in the 30th over.
Under 14s
Jimboomba Division 2 under 14s had a shaky start to their season against Kuraby at Wally Tate Park on Saturday.
Jimboomba won the toss and elected to bat first. Kuraby opening bowlers put on an excellent display of good length swing bowling to have Jimboomba in deep trouble at six for 25 off 10 overs. Ethan Hayes (17) and Haydn Teese (16) steadied the innings. Cameron Steinhardt 28 also top scored at number 10 to allow Jimboomba to get to 91 before being dismissed in the 26th over.
Kuraby commenced their innings slowly through some tight opening bowling from Brayden Hayes one for three and Lewis Hinds none for three. Spinners Arden Coy two for 12 and Cameron Steinhardt none for nine maintained the pressure and made runs hard for Kuraby. Joel Mitchell one for six and Haydn Teese one for 6sixsaw Kuraby finish the morning five for 52. The match continues next Saturday.
Under 10s Gold
Jimboomba under 10s Gold played Kuraby at Leopardwood Park, Runcorn on Saturday.
Jimboomba won the toss and batted first and achieved seven for 110 off 20 overs.
Top scorers were Hayden Carthouser (26), Liam McGregor (22) and Lachlan Mackay (19).
Kuraby in reply finished nine for 61 after 20 overs.
Top bowlers for the day were Corey Young three for seven off two overs, Liam McGregor one for three and Lachlan Mackay three for none off two overs which was also a hat-trick.
Under 10s Green
Jimboomba under 10s Green played Beaudesert Red at Beaudesert on Saturday.
Beaudesert won the toss and sent Jimboomba into bat.
Jimboomba after 20 overs achieved five for 113. Top Scorers were James Dinnar (30), Rowan Hayes (17) and Jett Wright (21).
Beaudesert in reply after 20 overs achieved nine for 74.
Best bowlers for Jimboomba were Tristan Van Hout two for 15, James Dinnar two for seven, Cruz Wright one for 14, Riley Benstead one for 11 and Matteo Chizzoniti one for 16.
