The Logan Village Falcons under 12s played Annerley in an epic grand final in fine conditions on Saturday in front of a large crowd of Falcons supporters.
The game was a fitting end to the season with this season’s top two teams playing in a tense grand final.
The Falcons started nervously with Annerley playing the better football in the first half.
Kye Huth, Jacob Marks and Ben Havers battled in the midfield as Annerley played attacking football. Player of the match and goalkeeper Isaac Sunn kept the Falcons in the game with his blocking, interceptions and saves from Annerley’s shots on goal.
Annerley finally scored and went into half time in front one-nil.
The Falcons defence rallied in the second half and defenders Seth Ablett, Jack Morley, Luke Bobbermein, Wil Wiltshire and Jacob Radowski marked their players closely and started to turn defence into attack.
Kash Talora asserted his influence, while Harrison Lederhose, Jack Watson, Makayla Dodd, and Donia Halliby worked together to create shots on goal and played attacking football.
The Falcons finally scored with 10 minutes to go, with Kash Talora slotting home a goal created by passing and teamwork, exciting the large crowd of Falcons’ fans.
In the final minutes of the game the Falcons won a penalty from a tiring Annerley side only to miss and the game went into extra time.
Both the crowd and players were nervous as extra time began.
Kye Huth was playing well in midfield and the falcons played attacking team football.
Jack Watson headed home a well-rehearsed set piece from a corner to put Logan Village in front.
Golden boot winner Kash Talora put the finishing touches on a fine win by scoring in the second half of extra time.
Coaches Roy Huth and Paul Lederhosen were proud of their players, who battled to the end and never gave up.
They thanked the players for all their hard work and training and after finishing the season on top said they deserved to win the grand final.
