A strong local community
It was my pleasure to attend the official opening of the new facilities at St Clare’s Primary School in Yarrabilba recently.
The establishment of the school is a credit to Principal Chris Thomas, the executive team, the teaching and support staff and the wonderful students.
I’m so pleased that the Australian Government was able to provide $1.25 million for the construction of St Clare’s and support the learning and teaching of not just the foundation classes but a generation of future students and the local community.
I recently took the opportunity in Parliament to congratulate them on their achievements.
If you’d like to watch a video of my speech, please visit my website (www.scottbuchholz.com.au).
I was also recently “deployed” with Australian Defence Force personnel participating in Operation Talisman Sabre in north Queensland.
It was great to catch up with the many locals in Shoalwater Bay taking part in the exercise, including our local reservists from Greenbank and Logan.
This opportunity has given me a greater appreciation of the service and sacrifice of the many defence families and veterans in our region.
Combatting the rising cost of living
I know that the cost of living is a concern for individuals, families and businesses in our local area who cannot always afford to heat their houses during these chilly winter mornings.
The Coalition Government is helping to ensure a better deal for locals as electricity bills roll in, to find out how see my Facebook Page: SBuchholzMP.
Australia’s big banks have recently made moves to lower credit card interest rates following my questioning and suggestions during last year’s Parliamentary inquiry into the banking sector. ANZ lowered rates, and now Westpac are offering a special low-interest credit card.
This is a big win and I encourage local residents to shop around and seek out these low-interest options to help ease pressures on household budgets.
