National Tree Day to be celebrated at Jimboomba

Elektra’s Eucalyptus tree plantation was spurred on from a Hills International College project where she chose to research about koalas.

She was devastated during the recent floods when she thought all hope for the plantation’s survival was lost as the trees were underwater for a number of days.

Most of the trees survived however several plants could not be saved and Elektra would like these people to come down again and plant a new tree.

To celebrate National Tree Day Elektra is asking residents to come along and plant a tree Eucalyptus tree for a small fee, which will be donated back to the Australian Koala Foundation.

There will be lunch and drinks on sale as well.

Elektra said the trees were now “as right as rain” however they are a little shorter than expected.

“During the flood we lost some of our plantation which was sad,” she said.

“During tree day we hope that more people will come and help us plant or if their tree has died they can come and plant a new one.”

Koala Services Queensland has donated trees for the National Tree Day celebration.

Head to Hills International College on Johanna Street and turn right near the white gates. The gate to the right will be unlocked. Follow the koala signs.

The event will start at 9.30am on July 30.
