Hills International School‘s Golf Academy took 15 young players to Indonesia for the Ciputra World Junior Golf Championships played in Jakarta earlier this month.
There were 20 countries represented at the tournament which had four divisions in both boys and girls.
Hills College and Golf Academy was highly successful with year 10 student Zubair Firdaus winning the under 16s division B world championship with consistent play across four rounds.
Played at the Damai Indah Golf Course which also hosts the Indonesian PGA Championship, the course is designed by international golf course architect Robert Trent Jones Jnr.
With the greens running at a very quick pace throughout the tournament - 14 on the stimpmeter - Zubair shot rounds of 76, 72, 81 and 75 to win the tournament by two shots.
Other great performances in the championship by Hills students came from the likes of Kerri Bong, who finished fourth in the under 16s girls division B.
Hans Yim placed sixth in under 11s boys division D, and Hamish Way finished ninth in under 18s, boys division A.
It was a great all-round performance by the Hills students, highlighted by Zubair’s world title.
This is the third world junior title won by Hills students.
Former current world number four Jason Day won in 2004 and Jovi Panngabean won in 2011.
