THE success of the Rotary Club of Jimboomba’s south-east Queensland expo at Hills College in March has resulted in a $10,000 donation to Heart of Australia.
The funds will assist the organisation to take cardiology services into rural and outback Queensland.
Dr Rolf Gomes of Heart of Australia thanked Rotary Jimboomba for its continued support.
"With your help, we will continue to deliver on our vision to reduce the barriers of access to specialist health services in rural communities," he said.
Rotary Club of Jimboomba president David Kenny said his club is proud to support Heart of Australia and encourages all Rotary districts and clubs to chip in by following Jimboomba’s lead.
The current donation doubles the amount the club presented to Heart of Australia in 2016.
The Jimboomba club has confirmed Heart of Australia will be one of three recipients of funds raised at their 2018 south-east Queensland expo.
According to its website, Heart of Australia delivers fortnightly specialist medical investigation and treatment clinics to Dalby, Goondiwindi, Stanthorpe, St George, Charleville, Roma, Emerald, Barcaldine, Longreach, Hughenden, Charters Towers, Moranbah and other regions.
Since the service began, its customised road train – a specialist medical clinic-on-wheels – has travelled more than 150,000 kilometres covering an area of more than 450,000 square kilometres, attending over 3000 patients in country Queensland.
