TWO trucks, five sedans and a motorcycle were involved in a crash at the junction of Mahoney Road and the Mount Lindesay Highway at Woodhill at approximately 8.05am on Tuesday morning.
Police have confirmed one person – a 43-year-old man from Ascot – was pronounced dead at the scene.
Motorists were advised to avoid the area as the Mount Lindesay Highway is currently closed in both directions between Undullah Road and Mahoney Road.
Diversions were put place around the accident scene. According to police these added approximately 10-15 minutes to the usual journey, and the highway was closed until approximately 5.15pm.
Emergency services freed a teenage boy and a woman in her 40s just after 9am after they were found trapped inside one of the vehicles.
The pair, who were suffering from chest pain, were transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital in a stable condition.
Four other patients from the crash were transported in a stable condition to the Princess Alexandra and QEII hospitals with back, chest and neck injuries.
A woman in her 50s with arm and leg pain took herself to Beaudesert Hospital.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
