Under 12s

Thunder under 12s hosted the Parkwood Sharks on Saturday in a top of the table clash at the Thunderdome.

Both teams entered the match undefeated and they did not disappoint the mass of spectators that had turned up in support.

Up against a Sharks team that had a massive size advantage, the Thunder showed true grit and determination to come away with an inspirational 24-22 win.

All of the 17 players that took to the field for the Thunder played their hearts out right down to the final whistle.

Solid defence across the field set the foundation for some attacking flair which saw them cross the line for 5 tries.

Man of the match went to Xander Maire whilst Marcus Skinner was awarded the Players’ Player.

Tries: Mathew Barrow (4), Marcus Skinner. Goals: Mathew Barrow, Jake McKay.

Under 13 Div 3

The Under 13 Division 3 team played hard on Saturday but lost to Parkwood 8-24. The try scorers were Taj Denaro and Samuel Lowe. Lochlyn Patterson and Charlie Tomkins worked hard in defence while Bradley McGee made good scoots in his role as hooker.

Under 13 Div 1

The Under 13 Division 1 boys battled through to the last moments of the game before being narrowly defeated by Helensvale 16-18 in a top of the table clash. Connor Brooks, Kobe Fox and Lorenzo Wall scored the tries with Timmy Sielaff-Burns making two conversions. Louruce Brown, Declan Arnold and Lachlan Betts were strong in defence.

Under 14s

Thunder 14s took on Helensvale in a tough encounter. Once again the team was struck by injuries to key players early in the game but toughed it out across the park to trail 12-6 at half time.

Winger/Centre Tristan Ross was rewarded for another first class effort with a length of the field try midway through the half that was converted by centre Kyle Johnstone.

Ross, prop Jack Barrow, half Jayden Barnes and man of the match Johnstone, who was extremely impressive in defence tried hard for the home team.

The Hornets scored 2 late tries against a depleted 12 man Thunder side to take the final score to Helensvale 24 Jumboomba 6.

The women's team took on table leaders Inala in a game that saw Thunder control all aspects of the first half.

With one try disallowed and three other close encounters with the try line the 32 to 12 score line did not show just how close the game could have been. Unfortunately injuries impacted on the final score.

Valasi Aumua again ran hard and tackled even harder creating fear in the oppositions forward pack.

Kylie Lewis returning after a season off was relentless in her defence working hard in the centre of the field.

Janet Mitchell the team’s new hooker directed the team around the field while managing the workload of the forward pack.

Cheyann Beard's return to the halfback role saw the backline receive more opportunities to break the line with Shania Paulson and Desree Fogarty's speed and agility constantly putting Inala on the back foot.

Player of the week is Emma Blundell for her huge efforts throughout the game with game changing tackles and inspired runs.
