It was a sea of orange shirts at Jimboomba State School for the Bullying No Way day on March 17.
Wearing orange clothing was a small way to show support for the National Day of Action against Bullying and Violence.
The student council explained the High 5 Bullying Strategy to the students for them to use with those who may be bullying them.
Under the high 5 strategy, the first step is to ignore and secondly move on to talking friendly.
If these steps do not work children are encouraged to walk away.
The fourth and fifth steps are to talk firmly to the bully and then report the situation to a teacher.
Teacher Judith Borrett said the students were taught to be good bystanders and assist those students who may be bullied.
“Bullying is a huge problem in the Australian community,” she said.
“It is important to equip our students with strategies to cope with situations that might arise.
“The student council organised for students in years 1 to 6, to be given pocket cards, which have tips and strategies to deal with bullying.
“Each class also made posters to embrace the theme of the day.”
