Rotary Club Of Jimboomba members stood proud at the weekend, hosting the 112th birthday of Rotary International.
Group president David Kenny said he felt honoured the club was “passed the baton” last year to hold the occasion in 2017, which had more than 60 people attend on February 25.
The event, which featured a three-course meal and showcased the club’s achievements, was held at the Hills International College in Jimboomba.
“The Rotary Club of Boonah hosted the event last year and they passed on the baton to us,” he said.
“We then passed it on to the Rotary Club of Fassifern Valley so they can hold the event next year.”
Mr Kenny said he was pleased guests of the Rotary Club of Jimboomba’s event travelled as far as Boonah, Beaudesert, Fassifern Valley and the Gold Coast just to attend.
Local, state and federal representatives also popped by for the occasion.
“There are not many places in Jimboomba you can have a night out like that,” Mr Kenny said.
“It was fun and the venue was absolutely fantastic, and it really was a great chance to focus on what the club has achieved over the last 30 years.
“We’ve raised money for Vanuatu, put on various shows and programs, and taken part in so many events.
“We always punch far above our weight as a club, and I think it was just a great chance to look at what we’ve done and say thank you to our members – 23 being full-time members and 22 honorary members, which means they’re part-time.”
Mr Kenny hoped the Rotary Club Of Jimboomba would be passed the baton again, to host the international celebration, in the next few years.
However, he said the club’s next focus would be put towards holding the Southeast Queensland Expo on March 17, 18 and 19.
