The JUFC under 12s travelled to the bayside on Saturday and came away with a 1-nil victory in a must win game against Bayside FC.
The game played in the heat of the afternoon. It was an entertaining match with both teams creating opportunities only for some great defence to nullify both sides’ attack.
The ball was being sent end to end and both teams were looking like they could win as time ticked away.
With seven minutes to go it was Jimboomba who put together the teamwork that resulted in the winning goal.
Tyla Croker-Slavin’s strong defence won a sideline throw-in found Rhys Comerford who turned and outpaced his opponent, which allowed him to send the ball into the goal square where Caleb Redway was able to get his boot to the ball and beat the Bayside keeper for the win.
This win moves Jimboomba into finals contention with three rounds to go. Best and fairest points went to Brandon Walsh, Cody Telfer, Dylan Jackson and Cody Orr.
