STAFF at Pub Lane Tavern in Greenbank may be more comfortable behind the bar, but this Saturday they’ll be swopping cocktails for a charity carwash, all in the name of fundraising for breast cancer.
Pub Lane assistant hotel manager Katrina Morgan is encouraging locals to support their fundraising efforts.
“Breast cancer has not only affected some of our staff, but many of us have loved ones that have been left devastated by the disease so this is our chance to give back to those in need,” she said.
In Australia, one in eight women will develop breast cancer. By 2020 over 17, 000 women are projected to be diagnosed with breast cancer every year in Australia – an average of 47 women a day.
The Pub Lane Tavern carwash will be taking place on June 11 from 10am and will cost $10 per car.
All funds raised will go to the PA Research Foundation, which supports programs aimed at early diagnosis, better health care and treatment alternatives for breast cancer patients in Queensland and across the country.
