Division 7 sitting councillor Laurie Smith says he is getting good feedback from booths and is confident of holding his seat.
Cr Smith is up against conservation movement identity Anne Page and Peter Tripp.
“I’ve been talking to a lot of people and it looks like we’ll get the right result,’’ he said.
“I was at Hillcrest (polling booth) and the feedback there was very good.’’
Greenbank RSL identities Rosemarie and Howard Buckley said they had voted for Cr Smith because of his good work.
The also went for mayoral candidate Luke Smith.
“I think Luke’s got the experience in council,’’ Mr Buckley said.
Ms Buckley: “I’ll go with that.’’
Carla Parker, a Greenbank booth worker for candidate Anne Page, is looking for change.
“I think Anne’s got the policies,’’ she said. “I’m a great supporter and people are saying they feel it’s time for a change.’’
Cr Smith said Mr Tripp and Ms Parker were swapping preferences but he felt he had done enough.
“I guess we won’t know until about 8pm or 9pm,’’ he said.
