KALLAN Manning, 8, is going places fast.
The eight-year-old has just been selected to take part in the USAUS Racing for the Kids Royal team event for junior drivers in Victoria.
His dad Shane Manning of Greenbank said Kallan raced a small speedway car known as a Comer SW-80.
“He started racing in February last year so he’s done one season so far,’’ he said.
Mr Manning said Kallan had been invited to race in the competition in May at Avalon Raceway.
“They’ve accepted Kallan because he’s been doing well in the sub-juniors,’’ he said.
“He’ll be up against kids from America.
“At his age, they just race for fun. ’’
Manning said Kallan raced at speeds up to about 60km/h and he had no concerns about his safety as the cars were quite safe.
The family now just has to save up some money to get to the event.
It’s no surprise that Kallan is into racing. It’s in his blood, with his dad and mum Larissa both race drivers themselves.
