THE state government has foreshadowed a $40 million upgrade of Waterford-Tamborine Road, including developer contributed funds for the project in its 2015-16 Budget.
The upgrade will include works between Hotz Road and Anzac Avenue in Logan Village.
No details of the project were announced, with a Main Roads spokeswoman only able to tell the Times the department was "reviewing expressions of interest for a four-lane design".
The $40 million was contributed by Yarrabilba developer Lendlease, but the road upgrade will be delivered by the government.
"(The upgrade) was a condition imposed on the developer...that they actually do that expenditure," Logan MP Linus Power said.
"Now we're holding them to it in accordance with the conditions."
Division Four Councillor and roads chairman Don Petersen welcomed the inclusion of the funds in the budget, but said the project needed to extend north through Logan Village to have any real effect.
"I'm glad to see they're putting money into Waterford-Tamborine Road even though its actually Lendlease money as part of the development," he said.
"But I don't believe if they are doing the section from Anzac Avenue through to Hotz Road that they are picking up the right area.
"It should be going from Anzac Avenue north through the village, I think that's the urgent area where we are getting congestion and conflict points."
Councillor Petersen said the road through the village had to cope with a heavy traffic flow, with a school, shopping centre and industrial estate all adding pressure.
"I will be contacting the minister to recommend these funds are reallocated to address four laning through the village," he said.
"Ideally we'd like to have the four laning done but retain the current road as a service road, as a number of studies have recommended."
The upgrade of Waterford-Tamborine Road will be completed over three years.
