LOCAL firefighters will be flown to Perth tomorrow morning to help battle the bushfire emergency unfolding near the city.
Volunteers from the Chambers Flat, Greenbank, Logan Village, Woodhill, and Tamborine Rural Fire Brigades will be among 82 Queensland firefighters deployed to the scene.
The group will meet and stay in Chandler tonight ahead of tomorrow's flight.
Chambers Flat fifth officer Aaron O'Neill said after landing in Perth they would drive straight to the fires, now burning south of Perth.
"The situation has been described as very dynamic with four fires burning, warnings are at at watch and act," Mr O'Neill said.
"The fire is controlled, but not contained.
"I have seen one report say it is one of the biggest fires they've had in Western Australia."
Mr O'Neill said the main aim of local crews would be assisting WA firefighters to contain the blaze.
"The weather reports for over there are a fair amount of wind, getting up to 25 knots or greater and with temperatures growing to 37 degrees on the weekend," he said.
"We want to get down there and help them secure it before the weather really takes hold."
He said the Queenslanders would help make a difference at the fire front.
"They've already drained the help from other states, with crews from New South Wales and South Australia already there," he said.
"We will be there for nine days."
The Queenslands crews are expected to return home on Friday, February 20.
