JIMBOOMBA'S Chaz Mostert has come from last to first to win the Bathurst 1000.
In a stunning finish to Australia's greatest motor race, Mostert, together with co-driver Paul Morris, won the Bathurst 1000 in dramatic circumstances.
Chasing V8 Supercars reigning champion Jamie Whincup in the final laps of the race, Mostert took the lead at the top of Conrod Straight on the final lap as Whincup ran out of fuel.
It was a dramatic finish to an amazing race which included a suspension of proceedings earlier in the day due to damage to the track and more than 10 safety car interventions.
Speaking just moments after winning, Mostert, who grew up at Munruben and attended Hills International College, said he could not believe the outcome.
"Oh wow, second year in main game and this happens," he said.
"The car was good out the gate, it's a credit to the FPR boys and Pepsi Max guys, they gave me a rocket ship race car."
