LOGAN school zone speeding ticket data revealed Jimboomba drivers were the third worst in 2017.
The Department of Transport and Main Roads released figures showing how many speeding tickets have been issued at every Logan district school zone ranging from January 1, 2016 and December 31, 2017.
There were 111 speeding tickets issued in Jimboomba school zones last year, which is a slight drop from 138 fines in 2016.
Springwood drivers were the worst for speeding in school zones with 581 speeding fines recorded and 173 tickets reported at Logan Central.
Surprisingly, only 28 speeding tickets were issued at Beaudesert and 24 at Beenleigh in 2017 despite both suburbs recording more than 200 speeding tickets in 2016.
Jimboomba police station officer-in-charge Senior Sergeant Peter Waugh said it was clear some people were still not getting the message.
“It is pleasing to see some reduction in speeding through school zones, however it still remains very high in very high risk areas,” he said.
“Jimboomba police and the road policing unit will continue to target school zones with a view to reducing the road toll and keeping our kids safe.”
A Transport and Main Roads spokesperson said it was important for people to drive to conditions.
“Motorists need to remember children can be unpredictable when crossing streets. Speeding through school zones greatly increases the risk to pedestrians,” the spokesperson said.
“Too many people either ignore or simply forget to reduce their vehicle speed, so speed limit signage spells it out plain and simple – slow down in school zones. It could save a child’s life.”
Logan Country Safe City chairman David Kenny said it was important for everyone on the road to take responsibility when they do the wrong thing.
“People need to man up pay the fine and move on,” he said.
“Do not have a go at the government for revenue raising. That is ridiculous.”
