MORE than 80 first year constables have been deployed to various police districts across Queensland.
Police Minister Mark Ryan said 82 officers were sworn in at a graduation ceremony at the Queensland Police Service Academy in Oxley on June 28, following 25 weeks of intensive training.
Most officers will be deployed in southern Queensland with 17 in the southern region, 11 in Logan and 16 in South Brisbane.
Three constables have been deployed to Logan Central station, two at Browns Plains and Loganholme and one at Crestmead, Beaudesert, Beenleigh and Springwood.
Redland Bay, Wynnum, Cleveland, Capalaba and Morningside stations were also allocated one constable.
Minister Ryan said there was a 50/50 gender split in graduates who came with diverse backgrounds.
“Before starting their training they were working in a wide variety of jobs including engineer(ing), graphic design, teach(ing), intelligence officer, sales, solicitor, accountancy, travel agen(cy), flight attendant, prison officer and scientist,” he said.
“Some were born in Queensland but there are others from New Zealand, Ireland, the UK, South Africa, Switzerland, Nepal and China...”
