STORMS travelling east from Toowoomba and surrounds could bring hail and strong winds, the Bureau of Meteorology has warned.
While severe storms are tipped for the Scenic Rim, Logan City, Sunshine Coast, Somerset and Morton Bay council areas, wild weather could also batter other parts of south-east Queensland.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services have urged people to secure loose, outdoor items and move their cars under shelter.
Today’s storm activity has come amid a week-long heatwave, which is expected to last until about Friday.
Hot and humid weather teamed with a weak upper trough led to the development of storms on Sunday and similar conditions have been repeated today.
The Bureau reported dew points of more than 20 were experienced across south-east Queensland this morning.
The unit measures atmospheric moisture, irrespective of temperature and readings higher than 20 can feel muggy.
