ENERGEX expects to return power on Tuesday evening to the last 460 homes in Logan and 32 in the Scenic Rim still facing outages from Sunday night’s storm.
Authorities have warned that more storms are expected this week.
Logan mayor Luke Smith said the State Emergency Service had responded to 180 calls, mostly for fallen trees.
He said the average summer storm usually resulted in about 12 to 20 call-outs.
Council had received 17 calls about damage in parks and public spaces, which would take up to two weeks to be repaired.
Teenager Tiana McClymont, of Tamborine Village, said her family were still without power on Tuesday afternoon and had been using a generator, which was costly to run.
“The trees have taken down all our powerlines and one of our laptops exploded and short-circuited everything during the storm,” she said.
“We still don’t know what electronics work because we can’t test it until the electricity comes back.”
Ms McClymont said there was extensive damage to their farm on Palomino Road and nearby properties.
“There’s a massive tree on the house and another tree went through the garage cutting holes in the top of the roof,” she said.
“We couldn’t get the two cars out because the roller doors were bent over.”
Ms McClymont said their horses got out after fencing was damaged and a horse shelter had blown down.
“It was scary – we saw lightning hitting the trees,” she said.
“We were scared for the horses and our dogs were freaking out and the cat was running around.”
Emergency Services Minister Craig Crawford thanked SES volunteers, particularly in the worst-hit Logan area.
“It has been a significant clean-up effort so far, and we thank everyone involved for their hard work in very hot and challenging conditions,” he said.
Mr Crawford said more storms were tipped to be on the way in the coming week.
“It’s very important people don’t underestimate the damage severe weather systems can do,” Mr Crawford said.
He encouraged residents to clear gutters to prevent or minimise roof damage and move or tie down loose items such as trampolines, dog kennels and bikes.
Cr Smith said Logan residents could download the Logan Early Warning app.
