ONE Nation leader Pauline Hanson has visited Jimboomba, backing a promise by local candidates to spend $400 million on upgrading the Mount Lindesay Highway.
Logan candidate Scott Bannan, joined by Jordan candidate Michael Pucci and candidate for the Scenic Rim Rod Smith, said there had been no holistic approach to the Mount Lindesay Highway for 20 years.
“No more band-aids, getting the job done and not just talking about it, that’s what we’re all about at One Nation,” he said.
“It’s been far too long that we’ve had nothing done.”
Mr Bannan said Labor promises to fix the Mount Lindesay included more traffic lights at Greenbank Road.
“It’s a highway, it shouldn’t have traffic lights on it; it should have overpasses,” he said.
“It should be done properly.”
Asked about his plan for the highway, Mr Bannan said they would start at Park Ridge South and work towards Jimboomba creating a four-lane road with overpasses.
“It’s a highway it needs to be treated like one,” he said.
Mr Bannan said they would fund the upgrade with money that had been budgeted for Cross River Rail, which the party has campaigned against.
Ms Hanson said Queensland party leader Steve Dickson would provide budget costings.
