Jimboomba Gymnastics Club gymnasts attended the Invitational Competition and level grading in Caloundra on November 11 and 12.
The 21 gymnasts attended with their coaches Callie Wall, Corrina Lester and Rhys Douglas.
The competition began with WAG (Women's Artistic Gymnastics) level 5's Jayde Moore and Brooke Pearson. Brooke fought hard to receive fifth in beam, with an 8.3 score. Jayde competed in her first level 5 sanctioned competition and worked on perfecting her routines. Following them were the WAG level 6's Erin Rowell and Erika Duncan. Both girls were highly focussed and their many hours of training paid off. Erika brought home a second in the apparatus, sixth in vault and a fifth overall result. Erika also qualified for the 2018 State Junior Titles.
The WAG level 3 gymnasts attended this event to level test for their WAG 3 badges, which they all passed. This was their first sanctioned event and they showed determination to show their skills and do their personal best. Daniela Novak competed by herself in the first session on Sunday.
The WAG 4's under the direction of Coach Corrina showed off their hard work and dedication Tiff-annie Robinson stayed strong on the beam and had a dynamite vault. Pippa Sharp and Anaya Rudra keep getting stronger and more confident with their bar changes as each competition comes along.
On November 4 and 5, Jimboomba Gymnastics gymnasts performed at their annual competition and assessment day, also attended by visiting clubs; Beaudesert Gymnastics, Aerial Gym and Cheer, and Lowood Gatton Gymnastics.
On Saturday WAG (Women’s Artistic Gymnastics) Levels 1-6 ran from 8am to 6.30pm with competition on Sunday for MAG (Men’s Artistic Gymnastics) levels 1-3 competitions and end of year assessments for Pre-Gym and Gymskills gymnasts.
Podium results for all round in WAG level 1: First: Amelia Townsend and Sophie Smith; Second: Sophie Bennett and Charlotte Stewart. WAG 1 was also joined by some of the younger pre-gym girls, some of who proudly took home ribbons, medals and trophies. Coach Madonna Farrow said it was a great experience for the girls to get a taste of competitions, getting a practise run for when then compete next year.
WAG level 2 all round results saw Kaela Guy and Montana Weeden take out first overall, Hailey Falconer received second and Willow Cole placed third.
WAG level 3 gymnasts Ruby Hulme and Kailee Wallace took out gold, Hayley Francis silver, while Holly Farrow and Keely Francis brought home bronze.
The Jimboomba competitors in WAG 4 were consistently adorned with medals and ribbons in this division. All round places went to Anaya Rudra with first place and Gemma Miller and Lucy McKay receiving seconds and Tiff-Annie Robinson third.
WAG level 5’s saw the Jimboomba Gymnastics Club take all three places on the podium overall, with first for Erin Cradden, second for Brooke Pearson and third for Jayde Moore.
Erika Duncan and Erin Rowell, both WAG level 6’s competed against each other and were evenly split with both competitors taking out two firsts. Once the scores were tallied Erika took out first overall by .45.
Sunday saw both boys and girls receive their end of year assessments. More than 120 girls participated in their Gymskills levels 1 to 4 evaluations. A group of coach Madonna's Under 5 years extension class also participated with the pre gym girls.
MAG levels 1-3 competed more than six different apparatus: Vault, Pommel/mushroom, Parallel bars, high bar, rings and floor. MAG coach Rhys Douglas said that it was a tight competition between the Beaudesert and Jimboomba boys in levels 1 and 2. The stand out gymnast for MAG level 3 from Jimboomba was gymnast Jett Wruck, who joined atthe end of last term. He received a gold on vault and an overall second trophy.
The event attracted about 300 gymnasts from age four.
