Darryl Lanyon – One Nation
Voters feel forgotten by the two tied old parties, they are looking for fiscal competence, common sense and honesty.
I support the practical idea of installing sequenced traffic lights the length of Beaudesert Road, combined with widening to three lanes to reduce peak time congestion and stop driver's short cutting through Algester.
One Nation would support an electric passenger rail service from Salisbury to Beaudesert and have pledged to work with the community opposed to the inland rail freight line, to achieve the desired results residents are looking for.
One Nation would build a 51.58 high efficiency low emission coalfire power station, state owned and dump the cross river rail.
To reduce electricity costs by 20% for all Queenslanders, One Nation would stop the S1.3B state government tax graduate gouged from electricity companies.
lt's time for a change and time to put people before politics.
Clinton Pattison – LNP
I have worked across hospitality and construction over the past 20 years and I have experienced the uncertainty that comes from not knowing if your job or even your shift is secure, and in the past I have had to make the decisions of “do I eat, pay rent, catch public transport to work or pay a bill?”.
These are the questions many Queensland families are facing thanks to the inaction of the Palaszczuk Labor government.
Like many Algester families, in order for my wife and I to go to work and do the school/child care run, we require two vehicles to be able to get through our working week.
Labor has increased family car registration’s each year for four years, we will freeze these registrations in order to help relieve some pressure.
The lack of passenger rail within Algester is a major contributor to the congestion experienced by commuters along Beaudesert Road especially, so I will fight for the construction of the Salisbury to Beaudesert passenger rail line, and an upgrade of Beaudesert Road.
With over 50 unbroken years of Labor representation in our local area we have been neglected and taken for granted for too long.
Leeanne Enoch – ALP
The Queensland Labor team is committed to creating jobs, strengthening our frontline services and improving infrastructure.
This means more nurses and aged care workers, more teachers in our schools, and road and public transport projects to bust congestion and take more cars off our streets.
The Logan Hospital is set for a $281 million funding boost that will increase patient capacity by almost 200 beds and see a new maternity ward built. This is part of a $679 million Labor re-election commitment to improve hospital care in growth corridors around Brisbane.
We have allocated a further $20 million to continue with upgrades to the Mount Lindesay Highway – which will create four lanes between Camp Cable Road and the Tamborine/Johanna Street intersection.
In addition, we’ll spend $69 million upgrading various park ‘n’ rides across the south-east, including at Greenbank RSL, so more people can take advantage of our bus network.
And excitedly, a new secondary school has been earmarked for Yarrabilba – which will be part of a record $808 million investment in education infrastructure. We’re also set to employ at least 3700 new teachers over four years, so our youngest Queenslanders get the start in life they deserve.
Patsy O’Brien – The Greens
I am passionate about our region and I have a vision for it to be a more vibrant, liveable, ecologically sustainable and affordable place for everyone.
For the last decade, I have been the general manager of a family-owned heavy machinery business in Brisbane’s south, and have more than 20 years experience in public and private sector administration and management.
This has afforded me a vast array of skills I can rely on to competently represent you.
I have volunteered and raised funds to support people experiencing homelessness and mental health issues, refugees, our First Nations peoples and survivors of domestic violence.
Caring for the vulnerable in society is one of my core values.
I would continue to be an advocate for those experiencing hard times.
Property developer and mining corporation donations to the old parties have shaped the growth of Queensland for too long.
I will work hard to put an end to political donations from those with a financial interest in political decisions and smash legitimated corruption.
I stand for more accessible and affordable public transport, reducing road congestion in the area, and supporting local businesses to foster innovative economic development, particularly for younger residents.
