Jimboomba junior athletes travelled south on the weekend where they competed and won medals at carnivals in Helensvale and the Gold Coast University.
A group of 10 and under aged athletes distinguished themselves at the Helensvale annual carnival where Jonas Hannam won two silver medals for the under 10 boys high jump and discus as well as a bronze medal for shotput.
Also competing in the under age group was Xavier Dennett, who won a bronze medal for the 800 metres.
Jacob Hannam won bronze for the under nine shotput and Alexia Hannam picked up silver for long jump while five-year-old Zayde Avard received an under six years participation medallion.
Jimboomba also had athletes competing at the Gold Coast Multi Events Championships which is where Camryn Newton-Smith won gold in the open women’s heptathlon.
Member Sam Emblem was successful in winning gold in the under 20 men’s decathlon.
Both athletes have now achieved national qualifiers in their events.
