CARERS, educators and health practitioners can learn how to support children with autism at workshops on November 14.
The free sessions will be run by the AEIOU Foundation, which provides a therapy and education program for children with autism spectrum disorder.
There will also be information on how the National Disability Insurance Scheme is funding early intervention.
A spokesperson for AEIOU said the workshops would help families, carers, educators and allied health practitioners to gain insight on challenging behaviours commonly experienced by children with autism.
“The workshops will cover behaviour management strategies and changing developmental trajectories in children with autism,” the spokesperson said.
The AEIOU Foundation runs a full-time program that includes at least 20 hours of specialised early childhood intervention per week, delivered by behaviour therapists, occupational therapists, speech and language pathologists and educators.
The foundation is an NDIS provider, enrolling children aged between two and six years old at nine centres in Queensland and South Australia.
The workshops will be held at Springfield Lakes Community Centre, 53 Springfield Lakes Boulevard, Springfield Lakes.
There will be two sessions of the workshop for attendees to choose from.
One will be at 9.30am and the other at 6pm on Tuesday, November 14.
Registration is essential, via 3381 8767 or camira@aeiou.org.au.
