Firefighters have been frustrated by a waste of resources in responding to a hoax call at Jimboomba.
Jimboomba fire station Captain Bernie Savage said two crews responded to a call for assistance about 5.30pm on October 17 but had been unable to locate an incident.
“Not only did we have four people of our crew go, we had Logan West staff come over as well,” he said.
“As far as we were concerned it was a vacant block of land, we went around and around searching and approached residents as well, and no one knew of the address.”
Mr Savage said he had been very disappointed in the behaviour of the offender for wasting valuable resources.
“We don’t normally see behaviour like this come from our area,” he said.
“With house fires we move pretty quickly and these things put people at a higher risk.
“We never know if people are trapped or hurt or if a fire will spread to another house.”
