Question time with Emmaus College students
It was my pleasure to attend Emmaus College recently to participate in the Year 9 SOSE Community Forum asking, “Queensland’s future: bright or bleak?”
The students asked some tough questions and it was great to hear their thoughts on the social and economic issues we’re currently facing.
I’m glad I could provide some insight into the workings of the Australian political system and how various developments are approved and funded.
It was wonderful to see the students so informed and interested in our local region and our state, their enthusiasm and fresh ideas make me confident that our future is very bright.
The students are a credit to their families and teachers and I wish them all the best in their future as they continue their education and their careers.
Jimboomba Relay for Life
Congratulations to the Jimboomba branch of the Cancer Council Queensland for holding another successful Relay for Life.
It was wonderful to see so many locals lace up their shoes and take to the track to support cancer sufferers and their carers, celebrate survivors and remember those loved ones who were lost to cancer.
Many locals’ lives have been touched by cancer in some way and this event succeeds in bringing the community together and taking positive steps to fight back against the disease.
Congratulations to the hardworking organisers and dedicated participants who walked through the night to raise over $75,000 for cancer research, prevention and awareness.
Everyday over 350 Australians will hear the words, “I’m sorry, you have cancer”, thank you to those locals who continue to fight for a cancer free world and keep the hope alive for all.
As always, if I can be of assistance with any Federal matter, please feel free to call my office on 5541 0150.
