DENNIS Stevenson is getting into the spirit of Christmas by giving away hundreds of gifts from a Jimboomba shop on Friday and Saturday.
Mr Stevenson’s give-away spirit started in 2008 when he opened up his house at Hamilton and offered all the contents for free.
Since then he has given away thousands of things from makeshift shops, usually just before Christmas.
“I am a brilliant collector,” he said.
“I have got a room full of stuff to give away and one of the best book collections you can imagine.”
Mr Stevenson said many of the items he would give away at the Jimboomba shop were pre-loved, although some were new. They would include books, soft toys, furniture and games.
“I will fill up the shop and make everything look really nice.
“Just because I am giving things away doesn’t mean that I won’t present it well.”
Mr Stevenson said he hoped the idea of giving away things would spread.
“I’d love to see communities all over Australia create the magic of Christmas and run their own spirit of Christmas shop this December to help make sure no children or adults go without presents,” he said.
The shop at unit 1, Jimboomba Convenience Centre will open from 9am to 6pm.
